Wow...you've obviously put a lot of thought into this. The routes definitely make sense and I think that in many cases, the existing system can be made more efficient and better for all when an end user has input into the routing. THanks for sharing. You should attempt to contact the powers that be and propose your ideas to them.

Thank you very much for you nice input novasparker! Welcome to SmartaMarta, and trust me, I already have contacted them about my ideas. In fact, I drew route 116's routing to/from Stonecrest before it was adopted, and while I advocated them to build a park & ride lot in Lithonia, I never liked the Mall Parkway / Evans Mill Road spot. I wanted MARTA and GRTA to build a new bus terminal with a conjoined park & ride lot in the parcel of land at the corner of Mall Ring Road and Stonecrest Square. It's right across the road from the mall and hotels, minimal changes needed to MARTA bus routing, and I don't see that land parcel or any of the massively open space surrounding it getting developed anytime soon, if ever.

Of course being from Toronto, this only scratches the surface of all the concerns that I have with transportation in Atlanta, but that's for at least another day (or week, even month).

I haven't heard from you in a while so I wanted to follow up with you to see how your routes worked out with the powers that be? Were they willing to consider your ideas or have they put any into practice as of yet?

I never heard back from MARTA. I don't even know if any of my route concepts ever made it to the discussion table. And to be honest, MARTA changes its routes way too much and so often it's hard to keep track of everything, especially when I don't live here. What was in 2007/2008 was arguably the best I had ever seen.

The MMPT project right now is the best thing Atlanta has going for itself (BeltLine and Streetcar IMO aren't even close).

Edit: 116 current routing to/from Stonecrest is the only thing I can say was my idea.
